A house built of concrete blocks? It certainly sounds different. What happened to using wood as building material? As times have progressed, and we face altering weather and climatic changes, it has been seen that wood is no longer as greater a building material as we had once supposed it to be. Nowadays, everything, right from a skyscraper to your backyard can be built using serviceable concrete blocks.
The material is cheaper, and because it is more durable, it is in more demand now than ever before. Did you know for instance, that a concrete wall could withhold against winds of 250 miles per hour? So definitely, a house built of concrete blocks will provide you with better protection incase you find yourself in the middle of a raging hurricane.
Using concrete blocks, or as some building contractors prefer it, concrete plates also lowers the amount of wood that you will need to construct the house. These days, the concrete is used in such a way as to provide the building built with it proper insulation as well as strength. The way to doing this is by using ICF or insulated concrete forms.
Blocks of polystyrene foam, used during the initial phase of construction, are stacked on top of each other creating a foam wall. Concrete which is poured into the center of the foam, cements with it hence creating a strong, well-insulated wall. In some cases iron rods are also passed through to lend added support to the walls.
